Movie review: Watchmen

Well, since I'm sick and staying home, I might as well write this movie review. On Sunday, me and Alex went to go see Watchmen. This is a brief summary and my thoughts on the movie.

WARNING: SPOILERS BELOW - DON'T WANNA KNOW? DON'T READ!!
Set during the Cold War in NYC, all costumed "superheroes" have been outlawed. Only one remains, a vigilante by the name or Rorshach. After the murder of retired hero named the Comedian, Rorshach begins to suspect someone is trying to kill all the heroes. Meanwhile, Dr. Manhattan is being framed for crimes that he never committed, and is accused of giving people he has had too much contact with, cancer. Rorshach goes to his old partner, Nite Owl and tells him his theory. However, Nite Owl dismisses it, calling Rorshach paranoid. After an attempt on "the smartest man in the world", who is another ex-hero, Rorshach says he knows he's not crazy. Dr. Manhattan leaves Earth after having trouble with the pres and teleports to Mars. There, he spends a bunch of his time in solitude. The Doomsday Clock is moved up due to increasing threat of Russia's nuclear attacks. After suiting up, Rorshach, Nite Owl and Silk Spectre begin to investigate. Rorshach is taken to prison where he is busted out and they travel to Antarctica finding that the ex-hero who was supposedly "attacked" is the one picking off heroes in an attempt to stop the nukes. After he succeeds, Rorshach goes to reveal the plot to frame Dr. Manhattan, but the good doctor shows up, saying that this is for the better good and vaporizes Rorshach.

This movie was very good. It is definitely worth the price to get in. It is rated R for a good reason. Sexual content, language, rape, and strong action violence are just some examples. There is a lot of blood flying. You can expect a lot since it came from the same guy who made 300. It has a lot of the same effects from the mentioned movie, however, it gives it a better feel. This movie was considered "un-filmable" but when it was filmed, it turned out very good. It is very dark, full of romance, anger and villainy. Fans of the original comic will be overly delighted to see the movie. i give this movie a 12/5 and each of Disturbed's Ten Thousand Fists will have their thumbs up. This movie is very good. I suggest you see it.
